Key Information to Provide When Ordering Electrode Paste: Furnace Details and Critical Parameters

Time:2026-08-14   Traffic:1007

When electrode paste usersincluding alloy plants, carbide plants, conventional aluminum smelters, and copper smeltersplace orders for electrode paste, what information should they provide to the manufacturer? Generally, specific electrode paste specifications are required. For first-time collaborations, users typically need to supply detailed information about their electric furnaces, including but not limited to the type of metal being smelted, furnace power, furnace design (such as combined holder or copper tile type), number of ribs, rib thickness, and rib dimensions. The more information the electrode paste manufacturer has, the better it can tailor raw material formulations based on customer needs and its own experience, thereby maximizing product performance to meet user requirements.

In addition to furnace details, key parameters in the electrode paste specifications provided by users include ash content, volatility, resistivity, and fluidity. Manufacturers usually rely on these indicators to determine raw material quality and formulation ratios, which also largely defines production costs and pricing.

Particular emphasis should be placed on the volatile matter content, as excessively high or low levels significantly affect electrode performance and are therefore closely monitored by manufacturers. If volatile matter is too low, the electrode paste may melt prematurely, resulting in poor fluidity and uneven sintering, which compromises electrode strength. Conversely, if volatile matter is too high, it will evaporate rapidly during smelting, accelerating electrode consumption. This not only increases production costs but may also impact process stability and product quality.

Thus, the role of volatile matter is multifaceted:

1. **Influence on Sintering Process**: As temperature rises, volatile components gradually release, helping form a porous internal structure within the electrode. This maintains good permeability during sintering while promoting strong bonding between internal components, thereby enhancing overall electrode strength.

2. **Regulation of Resistivity**: Volatile matter in electrode paste can also regulate resistivity to some extent. By adjusting the content and type of volatile components, manufacturers can control how resistivity changes at different temperatures, meeting various requirements during smelting operations.

3. **Improvement of Performance**: Adding certain volatile components can enhance electrode performance. For example, specific functional volatiles can improve oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance, thereby extending electrode service life.

Therefore, when communicating with electrode paste manufacturers, users should provide as much information as possible. This helps ensure clear production targets and optimal product performance, making it essential for successful collaboration.
